Tech Ed Barcelona : Dday – 2 (Road Trip)

Posted by koenvosters on November 8, 2008

As promised to my colleagues and friends I’ll be blogging about my road trip to Barcelona Tech Ed with my colleague Yanis Duwyn. This post is currently made from Yanis’ catacombs of his house. The car is ready, the tank is filled up, the laptops are ready and there is a big case of Red Bull in the trunk. I kissed my kid and girlfriend goodbye and got the typical concerned parent phonecall, which is always nice :) Wish me good luck, I’m driving with Camicaze Yanis for 16 hours, and I’m supposed to sleep while he is driving :)

I’ve seen that quite a few partners are there as well, so it’ll be a nice time to catch up. If you are interested to meet and have a beer (in Belgium we only drink beer :) ) let me know at “digitallion connected to an @ and then Microsoft’s email service (hotmail.com). Sorry about the cryptic message but I don’t want to be flooded with spam :) See you there!

Patrick Tisseghem, we will miss you.

Posted by koenvosters on September 8, 2008

There are these times where you wished Swamii didn’t return you all the news related to SharePoint. I just found out that Patrick Tisseghem, Microsoft MVP and U2U Teacher has passed away. Appearantly due to a heart attack while giving class, at the age of 39. I hereby wish my to give my condolences to the family and friends. This is a great loss for them, as well as for the SharePoint community. Patrick was the first persons who tought me about Moss 2007 (at U2U) and he managed to pass along the fire and enthousiasm he had for the product. I therefor thank him, and the many occassions where I met him and he answerend open questions that I still had. Fare you well, Patrick. We will miss you.

If you would like to give your condolences, do so on Jan Thielens’ Blog:

At the Olympic Games

Posted by koenvosters on August 12, 2008

As I work for Atos Origin, who does most of the IT of the Olympic Games, there is a lot of buzz going on internally about the Games. One of my colleagues went there as a volunteer (Atos Origin lets a certain number of volunteers come to the games to help out and experience the event) and he is doing a good job of keeping his blog up to date. So if you are interested to have a view on the olympic games from an IT guy take a look at his blog. It’s enlightening.

Microsoft .Net Magazine

Posted by koenvosters on July 7, 2008

In the december issue of Microsoft .Net Magazine (2007) I’m on the cover! with the BOIC Project. In that project I had the technical lead. Due to the new versions of Team System and Visual Studio coming out we decided to build the whole thing in WPF and use Visual Studio 2008 and Team System 2008 Foundation Server to build the application. Worked like a charm. Most of the time :)

Archive: It’s a boy

Posted by koenvosters on July 7, 2008

Yep, we went to the doctor last night who checked up on the baby. Everything is fine and there was some remarkable distinction that showed us it was a boy that is coming our way in March. Now the hard task of finding a name :)
