It’s official
Microsoft announced Visual Studio 2010 and .Net Framework 4.0. Appearantly, to have a bigger impact they will be leaking news slowly instead of giving it all to you in one big bang. There is already a nice overview page available which lists some features, there are a few interesting news posts. One quite interesting part of it all is that the new Team System will no longer be running on SQL Server 2005 but on SQL Server 2008 due to its’ more advanced reporting abilities.

SharePoint Mirroring
Posted by koenvosters on September 29, 2008
I love articles that extend the traditional info that is provided by the documentation. Information that is vital, but that for some reason is not available in the docs. It’s those type of articles that tackle 99% of the problems you encounter when setting up stuff. It’s a bit like my article regarding the project file ” is missing. It’s the article with the most view results, to my great surprise. Michael made a great post like that, regarding SharePoint Content DB Mirroring. A must read if you are facing problems with mirroring.

Sexy Moss 2007 WCM Site launched
Posted by koenvosters on September 26, 2008
This is a discussion that I’ve had already quite a few times, and there isn’t a real fix answer for it. Is SharePoint the right platform to be used as an internet portal? In my opinion it is, and lately there have been quite a few sites that have proven this point (although I have no idea of the load they get). Latest nice addition to the list of sexy SharePoint sites : http://www.starz.com/ Have a look, it’s worth it.

Patrick Tisseghem, we will miss you.
Posted by koenvosters on September 8, 2008
There are these times where you wished Swamii didn’t return you all the news related to SharePoint. I just found out that Patrick Tisseghem, Microsoft MVP and U2U Teacher has passed away. Appearantly due to a heart attack while giving class, at the age of 39. I hereby wish my to give my condolences to the family and friends. This is a great loss for them, as well as for the SharePoint community. Patrick was the first persons who tought me about Moss 2007 (at U2U) and he managed to pass along the fire and enthousiasm he had for the product. I therefor thank him, and the many occassions where I met him and he answerend open questions that I still had. Fare you well, Patrick. We will miss you.
If you would like to give your condolences, do so on Jan Thielens’ Blog:

SharePoint Administration Toolkit 2.0 Released
Posted by koenvosters on September 3, 2008
It’s starting to become obvious that holidays at Microsoft are a myth
There have been quite a few releases the last few days, and here comes another one. They released a new version of the SharePoint Administration Toolkit, now at version 2.0. It allows you to do bulk operations on site collections, an Stsadm operation to update alert e-mails after the URL for a Web application has been changed, and a User Profile Replication Engine tool (new). They also updated the MSI to give you some new installation possibilities.
